It was inspired from Mondrian geometric paintings. The pattern is wrapped around the polished concrete. This collection experiment the relationship of 3d print technique and materiality in Architectural context. We experiment this design concept in a bigger scale/wall feature and print them in a smaller scale as a wearable architecture.
It was a custom wall pattern with embedded fireplace for a high-end residential located in Hermosa Beach, CA. The details of Mondrian's composition are used as a modular tile to create a seamless connection between concrete and steel.
Steel and concrete are the two materials that has been used as a basic architectural material into this wearable collection. We have been always fascinated by steel and concrete in large scale, building, to medium scale furniture and small scale accessories. We tried to experiment the material in different forms and context.
First, we design and print the stainless steel skeleton, Then we filled it with concrete and cured it. when the concrete is ready we hand polished it to get to the flat and smooth surface.
